Laptop Lease and Usage Policy

Purpose

This policy outlines the terms and conditions for the lease and usage of laptops provided to students enrolled in our Artificial Intelligence (AI) Enrichment Program who do not have access to computers. The goal is to ensure responsible use, proper care, and timely return of the laptops to support educational activities while minimizing the risk of damage.

Eligibility

Laptops will be made available to students who meet the following criteria:

• Enrolled in the AI Enrichment Program
• Do not have access to personal computers

Laptop Usage

Students are expected to:

• Use the laptop exclusively for program-related activities, including educational research and coursework.
• Not engage in any unauthorized activities, such as accessing inappropriate content, installing unapproved software, or engaging in non-educational tasks.
• Not share, transfer, or lend the laptop to others outside the program.

Care and Handling

Students must:

• Handle the laptop with care, avoiding any rough or careless treatment.
• Keep the laptop in a safe and secure location when not in use.
• Protect the laptop from physical damage, spills, and exposure to extreme conditions.

Transport and Packaging

Laptops must be transported to and from the program in their initial packaging to ensure safe transit. Failure to adhere to this requirement may result in damage and subsequent charges.

Agreement Co-Signature

Parents or legal guardians of the student must review and co-sign this agreement before the student is granted access to a laptop. This indicates their understanding and commitment to comply with the terms of this policy.

Damage Fees

In the event of any damage or accident to the laptop, students will be charged a fee of $500 to cover repair or replacement costs. This fee will be assessed based on the severity of the damage.

Return of Laptops

Laptops must be returned to the program at the end of the lease period or upon completion of the AI Enrichment Program, in the same condition as when they were provided (subject to reasonable wear and tear). Failure to return the laptop on time may result in additional fees or penalties.

Acknowledgment and Compliance

By using the leased laptop, students and their parents/guardians acknowledge and agree to comply with all the terms and conditions outlined in this policy.
